Bernard Nathan, 93, passed away on September 9, 2024, in New York City. He was born in Albany, NY, the son of Charles and Mary (Fine) Nathan and was predeceased by his twin sister Bernice. He was a graduate of Ithaca College, a remarkable athlete since youth, and served in the U.S. Navy, sailing around the world on a destroyer escort. He was a successful businessman, a skilled birder, a sweet, funny and joyful husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Hon. Barbara F. Newman (ret.), his son Matthew (Gillian) Nathan and his daughter Dr. Susan Nathan (Dr. Andrew Sutherland), grandchildren Noah Nathan and Jane Sutherland, and extended family and friends. We miss him already.
A Memorial Service for Bernard will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street, Frnt 1, New York, NY 10023.
