I was a bellhop at the Carlton Hotel when Bernard owned Meli Melo on Madison Avenue.   Both of us had an arrangement, if I supplied costumers from the hotel, I would never pay for another meal at his restaurant.  The arrangement worked very well.  But aside from that, I found Bernard to be a very generous, kind hearted man who always had a pleasant word for me.  My assignment at the hotel ended.  In passing, I discovered that the restaurant had shut down and we lost touch.  I was saddened to discover his passing.  I just want to say it was an honor and privilege to know him and to have graced his presence.   If there is a silver lining, I'm glad he missed the pandemic and escaped the punishment the restaurant industry faced in 2020.  God bless you and your family.

I am stunned and saddened to hear of the loss of one of my dearest friends that was always there with his warm smile, a kind word and generous brilliant hand.
 His Mastery of Cuisine made his appearances on our TV shows  High Ratings Hits.  
Miles of distance and years apart yet he and Yvonne were always close to my heart.  I never had the chance to get to know heir son Remy but recall the Joyful day he was born. My love to them with prayers for God's comfort and thoughts abound.  Joseph  Andaloro "Dish It Up Italian Style"

I first met Bernard when he opened Paname. I would come with my grandchildren and we would talk of the kids. My grandkids and his son. He was a outstanding chef but more importantly a great man. A caring person who was more than a restraunteur but a authentic caring friend. We grew to know each other over the years and I am a better person for having him as a friend. My deepest sorrow to his family. We all who knew him will miss him deeply.

I knew Bernard for many years going back to Cafe C.  Not only was Bernard an amazing chef he was kind giving person with a heart of gold.  My sincere condolences to his beautiful family. RIP my friend you will be surely missed 🙏

I knew Bernard many years; when he first owned Cafe Comedy and where my friends and I had many good times.  He was not only a great chef, but a lovely man; my heart goes out to you.
