OBITUARY
Carol G. Luckett-Carroll was born in the village of Harlem, New York on January 25, 1948, the third child of William B. and Leanore Luckett. She was preceded by her brothers, the late William (Billy) and Gerald (Manny) Luckett. She departed this life peaceably at New York University Hospital on February 12, 2014. She was 66 years old.
Carol spent her formative years in the borough of Brooklyn where the family moved five years after her birth. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1967, entered the work force, and was employed at McGraw-Hill where she remained for more than 15 years. In 1979, she was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Lawrence E. Carroll. They remained happily married until Lawrence’s untimely death in 1991.
Carol’s walk with the Lord began at Miracle Revival Temple, Bronx, New York, where Bishop Ceacer Gooding presided. She became a devout and committed servant of God, and expanded her devotion when she joined Times Square Church in New York City. It was here she found an outlet for all the goodness that she possessed. She invested much of her time and energy serving in various ministries including Helps, Military and Counseling for over 20 years. Along the way, Carol became a beacon for many with her bright smile, sense of humor and the love of Jesus.
Carol loved cooking and entertaining. For years, she hosted barbecues and birthday celebrations for more than 50 participants. She resided in the same building for almost 40 years amassing a plethora of friendships that have lasted to this day. Giving came natural to Carol. She generously gave of herself to anyone who was in need. Carol shared her Father’s love to everyone who came within two feet of her; she always had a tract handy and never refrained from inviting them to attend a church service.
Carol leaves to mourn her brother Gerald, her sister-in-law Lena; her eldest cousins Rodney Williams, Maurice Williams and Barbara Williams, Bronx, NY, and all of the Williams family; her goddaughters Joya, Diamond and Ebony; her godsisters Alethea Govan, Tresal Scott, Joanne Petty, Elaine Jordan, Gail Neil, Margaret Young, Jackie Rivers, and Marisa Dunn-Moodie; and a host of family, friends and neighbors at 1740 Grand Avenue.
Sorrowfully submitted,
Her loving family
