June 28, 1942, Gary, Indiana – June 8, 2024, New York City
After graduating college in Chicago, Cathy quickly adopted New York as her home, and remained in NYC until her death in 2024. She relished all of the city, especially music, theatre, museums, restaurants, exploring new neighborhoods, and sharing her city with family and friends.
Cathy held various technology management and consulting positions, often traveling abroad for work and pleasure. She was generous with her spare time, especially helping others to read and have broad access to books and learning. Hobbies included arts and crafts, quilting, holiday decoration making, and pottery. While not especially fond of cooking, her potato salad was a much-sought-after creation.
The second of five children of Patricia and Anthony Kimmel, Cathy was predeceased by her parents and siblings. Family survivors include niece Sarah Pongres, nephew Matt Pongres, and three nieces, Erin, Kieley, and Samantha Kimmel, who were all very special to her.
Cathy will be buried in the family plot in Indiana.
