Charles Joseph Gegenheimer (9/9/1949 - 8/20/2018) was born in Queens, New York. After an incredible fight for his life Charles succumbed to pneumonia. He is survived by his wife, Karen Gegenheimer; his three sisters: Francine O’Rourke, Ann Renock and Joan Gegenheimer; his two nieces: Allison O’Rourke and Ashley Power; and his nephew, Kristopher Renock.
Charles was instrumental in the entertainment business and worked on a number of movies including OVERBOARD starring Goldie Hawn while living in Santa Monica, CA. After returning to New York in 1990 he produced a number of independent productions until 2001 when he entered the documentary news business and served as the Vice President of Pathe News, Inc. until 2012.
Charles craved automobiles, especially classic Porsches. He spent numerous hours restoring 356 Coups and 356 Cabriolets. 1963 was his favorite year. Charles loved to race cars. While we dated he spent hour after hour restoring his next racing vehicle. He lived to drive. He always owned a manual transmission. No automatic for him!
Charles lived life to the fullest and I thank you Charles for sharing yourself with me!
