Chris,

I've refrained from sharing my thoughts and feelings about your passing until now. It was one year ago today that your sister Molly called me to confirm my greatest fear. You had left us to join God, way too soon. The recovery of your loss has changed me as a person. I often told you I have never met a nicer, more considerate person than you. I respected your constant thought of others, getting to meet decades-old friends that have become my friends. 
I am so grateful to your family for sharing this difficult time with me.  I am forever touched at the remarkable honor they created for you in Corpus Christi church  last year. 
Thank you for loving me just as I am. I will never forget your smile, your hugs, your warm heart. I will miss you always.

Dear Whelan Family; 
It’s with such sadness that I write to you.  I just read of  Chris’ passing.  I send you all my love and support during this time of grief.   
Chris and I had kept in touch since the 80’s, when I worked for your dad at his radiology practice as his transcriptionist. Chris and I would often watch General Hospital on our lunch hour.  I have wonderful memories of his sweetness and hardy laugh.  
I spoke with him in August while he was performing in Berkley.   We often spoke of our 12-step recovery programs.  I was so proud of him.
