Clifford M Bernstein, devoted husband to Elizabeth, father to Karen, Melissa, Matthew and Thomas, grandfather to Gavriel, Basia, Janine, Laura, Luna and Atara, died peacefully at home on August 4, 2022, at age 83.
After graduating from Trinity College and the NYU Courtauld Institute, Cliff managed Software Technology at Exxon at age 33 and pioneered software development and mathematical modeling for Exxon’s 3,000 application developers. He led the team that installed the first computers in Malaysia and Singapore in the 1970s and was Chief Information Officer for Exxon in Brazil. He next became Chief Technology Officer for IBM Healthcare where he consulted on innovative healthcare computing technology.
In 2012 he started ActOneMD, a healthcare technology company. Cliff and Elizabeth enjoyed and continually celebrated a 34-year marriage, and Cliff enthusiastically maintained close relationships with his long-term friends. Cliff’s caring heart, open mind and character pervaded every aspect of his life and he will be greatly missed by his large family, friends, and associates. Beyond status and branding, Cliff attempted to identify his weaknesses and confront them by reading and writing. He sought emotional and intellectual roots that would live beyond him. He will be remembered for his readiness to share a good laugh, his intellectual curiosity and his love of sports, travel, films and music.
A private memorial service will be held.
