Dear Sarah and Catherine:  I was so sorry to learn the news about Craig.  He was a wonderful friend and I loved him very much, and have wonderful memories of working with him at MSNBC and sharing some of life's memories together. My thoughts are with you.

For a couple of years in the late 80's I had the good fortune to sit close to Craig's desk at CBS' West 57th.  So many times I was struck by his warmth, discretion and wonderful sense of humor.  He looked out for everybody. Once when I returned late after a shopping spree at lunch, he stashed my box of new shoes in his desk and sent me off to a meeting I had completely forgotten.  What a terrific guy.  We all will miss him.

That's how you always warmly welcomed me.   Boy, were you a tough act to follow at that desk in the 555 building.  You left some big footprints but I am so glad I could follow your lead because it enabled us to become friends.     I enjoyed our many chats about literature, poetry, music...so many things.  You were  always there with your infinite wisdom and humor.  
Thank you for your friendship and for all the laughs we shared.  I am a better person for knowing you and there is certainly an emptiness in my heart.  All my best to Sarah and Catherine.  You will be missed.

So sorry to see this news.  I was Craig's office mate on the 8th floor of the 555 Building in the early 90's.  He was such a lovely person with a great sense of humor - he will deefinitely be missed.

It's been decades since we worked together at CBS but I've never forgotten Craig's constant good humor, enthusiasm and decency.  It was a pleasure to have known him.

     Craig, Mike McCarthy and I worked together in the library of Newsweek, in my case, from 1972 through 1979. The three of us were good friends and, Via Hurley's and similar places, shared many a home bound Friday evening celebration.  
     I was transferred to Newsweek in Washington in 1979 and I think I only saw Craig a few times since then, the most recent of which was in the late eighties.   
     You don't have to see someone every day, though, to value them and to know how deeply they will be missed. Craig will certainly be missed.
