Cristina Maria Botta, age 69 of New York, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 18th at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on April 28th, 1956 in Milan, Italy to the late Gian Carlo Botta and Marie Laure Chavannes.
Cristina emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1979. She met her husband, James Singleton, in 1982, and they married in 1987. They built a loving family together and welcomed four children into their lives. Cristina was a graphic designer and art director and had a keen sense of style and taste. She worked as a volunteer in the admissions office at Saint David’s School for many years and with the parents’ association of Regis High School. She loved New York City and made it her adopted home. But first and foremost, she was dedicated to her family, providing unending support, guidance and love.
Cristina is survived by her husband of 38 years, James Singleton; her children, Chiara (Arjun), Benjamin (Mackenzie), Ian (Maude), and Sean (Cierra); and her grandchildren, Violet, Alessia, Beau, Davide, and Theodore. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Andrea, and sisters Raffaella and Francesca, and their children whom Cristina adored as a loving aunt.
A visitation will be held at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, 1076 Madison Avenue, on Wednesday, June 25th from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26th at 10 am at Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Avenue, immediately followed by a reception with the family.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Saint David’s School or the American-Italian Cancer Foundation in Cristina’s memory.
