
SULLIVAN-Daniel, a resident of Manhattan and Sea Girt, NJ, passed away on February 22, 2018 at the age of 90. The son of Irish immigrants, he was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ. Dan graduated from St. Peters Prep and St. Peters University in Jersey City and received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a US Army Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War and also served in the Merchant Marines during the Korean War. He had a long and distinguished career in Commercial Real Estate Finance, primarily with TIAA-CREF where he retired in 1994 as a Managing Director. Throughout his career he had a tremendous positive impact mentoring many colleagues. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Peggie, a NY City Schools teacher and administrator. Peggie and Dan retired in 1994 and traveled the world extensively, visiting every continent except Antarctica (Peggie could not be persuaded to travel there as she preferred Tahiti). Their favorite places were the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the Jersey Shore (although Dan would add Bayonne). A loving Father and Grandfather, he is survived by a Daughter, Cathy of San Francisco, CA, a son Daniel, and Daughter-in-law Edie of Charlotte North Carolina and two Grandsons, Joey (Daniel IV) and Chris. A devoted sibling, he is survived by a Sister, Teresa Dames and Brother-in-law Bob Dames of Cincinnati and a Brother-in-law Roy Fastow of Toms River, NJ. He was predeceased by his brother Richard and sisters Marguerite McMahon, Ann O’Brien and Elizabeth Fastow. Known throughout the family as beloved “Uncle Dan” (to those he was an actual uncle to and also many other cousins) he is survived by 16 nieces and nephews, scores of great-nieces and great-nephews as well as many other cousins in the US, Ireland, England, Australia and Venezuela. Dan and Peggie had long, happy and fulfilling lives and may they rest in peace. Friends may pay respects at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 76th Street and Amsterdam Avenue on Monday between 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Requiem Mass will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 152 West 71st Street on Tuesday at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of NY, 1011 First Avenue, 11th Floor, NY, NY 10022.
