
Denis K. Lynch on February 13, 2012. Beloved husband of Mary Jaye, Denis was born in Red Bank, NJ, on October 19, 1948. At the age of 13, Denis left home to attend prep school at Mother of the Savior Seminary in Blackwood, NJ, where he first discovered his love of the theater. Denis attended college at Mount St. Paul in Waukesha, WI, and graduated with his BFA in Theater from Dominican College in Racine. He worked as Controller for the Management Labor Welfare Fund, Local 1730 for seventeen years. Outside of work, he was an avid tennis player and jazz lover, and he truly treasured the friendships his work and passions made possible. Prior to working as a Controller, Denis was a prolific director, actor, and producer of over 150 plays. He has the distinction of playing Don Quixote in the first amateur production of Man of La Mancha in the United States. He was Artistic Director at the Barn Theater in Rumson, NJ, teaching theater classes, directing shows, and starring in productions including The Mousetrap and Man of La Mancha. Denis co-founded the Dam Site Dinner Theater, in NJ, where he entertained audiences for years until leaving for NYC in 1980. His influence on theater in the NJ area, including his mentoring of numerous individuals, was substantial. In NYC, he appeared in productions of: Arsenic and Old Lace, The Question of Nick, Clarence Darrow, The Rain Maker, A Flea in Her Ear, and others. His family and friends will truly miss his gentlemanly nature, his quick wit, and his always-at-the-ready impersonations. Besides his wife, Denis Lynch is survived by his mother, Marion; brothers, Arthur, Joseph and Kieran; sister, Tara, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, February 18th, at Andrett Funeral Home, 353 2nd Ave. at E. 21st St. NYC.
