Just saw the sad news - Doug was a wonderful man and always willing to share what he knew; I sincerely wish his family my condolence and heart felt sympathy - I will miss his friendship as I did work with him at Scudder and later followed his Gold stock advice.

The New York mining finance industry will truly miss Doug's exceptional knowledge, wit, and humor.  Whenever I needed an encyclopedia, I called Doug.  He was fun and kind, although tough as nails.  Peace be with you and your family, my friend.

Doug was a true friend and mentor to many of us in the small-cap mining community.  His drive, integrity, and humor will be missed.  He is one reason why his is called "The Greatest Generation".

My condolence and prayers go to Doug's family.  You can all be proud of Doug and celebrate a life well lived.  He was a master of the industry and his view was respected by all.  I have met with Doug many times over the last 15 years and always knew I would hear sage advice and commentary.  Rest assured that the good Lord's mining investment committee just got a lot better.  We'll miss you Doug.

Doug will be missed I am sure in all of his circles. In the mining investment world Doug was always sharp and well prepared for any meeting and over the 20 years I met with him I always knew to bring my "A" game. Our meetings were always tough, fair and engaging. He was a great supporter and I will really miss him.
