Alex Eliseo Asencio, M.D., age 66, passed away on June 13, 2020. He was the son of the late Juan and Adelaida Asencio. He graduated from Hunter College and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He recently celebrated 40 years since receiving his medical degree. He was a physician who deeply cared about his patients. In fact, he deeply cared about all those around him. Alex (Lise) was a devoted brother, nephew, cousin, friend, and partner. He was the shining light of our family. He was born with very little, and yet, accomplished so much. He travelled the world and made lasting friendships in distant places. He loved being part of New York City and appreciated everything it offered; the people, the places, the art, the music, and the food.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity of your choice in his name.

If you are planning to attend the public viewing on Friday, June 19, from 3pm-6pm, please be aware that these are not “normal” times. As such, the numbers of visitors allowed in the funeral home at one time will be limited. We ask that visitors wear face masks, maintain physical distance, and limit their time in the funeral home to allow others the opportunity to pay their respects. We want everyone to live long and happy lives.

Dr. Asencio was the best doctor I ever had. I loved him so much. It always makes me smile thinking of how he stood up every time I came to see him and he would said, "A ver Gloria, ahora que paso?" He understood my situation as a caregiver and helped me figured out if I was really sick or stress out for taking care of a mild dementia mother and elderly father. I loved when he asked me about them. "Y los viejos como estan?" It is a big loss as a doctor and as a human being, not to mention as a family member or friend for those close to him. I was looking forward to making an appointment with him and now I am loss because I am not sure if I can find someone who understood me as well as him. May God Bless him and his family. Dr. Asencio will be our shining start every time we look at the sky. I am very grateful that I got to meet him. May he rest in peace.

💔 My heart is shattered. Dr. Asencio was the kindest most compassionate person I have ever known. Just a smile and a hug from him could make you feel better. He actually made you look forward to going to the doctor! My mother was one of his first patients and so I became one also...combined we were his patients for almost 40 years. When my mother passed away Dr. Asencio cried with me, a more caring, giving man you will never find. My tears will not stop. An angel on earth has become an angel in Heaven. Dear Dr. Asencio you will always be in our hearts. My sincerest condolences to his family and to Rosie, Lillian and Elba. Rest in eternal peace my dear Dr. ❤

Dr. Alex Asencio,
