a native of Moycullen,
County Galway, Ireland
passed away on August 26,
2016 in New York City after a
brief illness. "Desi" as he
was better know, was a
well-respected boxer in his
youth, before leaving his
beloved Ireland to work on
the Cunard Line ships,
gaining valuable experience
in the hospitality trade which
he put to great use upon
settling in New York in the
1960s. Desi owned many
of the great Irish restaurants
in New York City including
Desmond's, Kennedy's and
Jim Brady's. A real character;
he was known and loved
by many. Desi leaves behind
a sister Ruby, Brother John,
survived by many nieces and
nephews. Family will receive
