Dear Gash Eshetu, I am shocked and saddened with the news of your passing. My husband Assefa Aitenfisu always talked about your greatness. I was so happy after you were able to reconnect with the family after so long. Even though it was short lived and we didn't get the chance to meet in person, I am happy you got to meet your brother and the great family we have.(through video chat). I wish that God gives you peace in the afterlife and my condolences to everyone who got hurt with this unfortunate news.

Dear Eshetu,

I am deeply saddened to hear the most unexpected news of your passing. When i heard that you were found after so many years i couldn't believe it and was extremely happy. I was planning to visit you in April. Then the unexpected lock down happened. I was praying for you day and night to the merciful God to protect you from this pandemic. The news coming out of most nursing homes were heartbreaking and discouraging. One day the truth will come out.
May God keep your soul in heaven.
My condolences to all your family.

Dear Gash Eshitu,

It is a heartbreaking news and we were very shocked for losing you. We were so thrilled when we learnt that you are out there after 50 years. We were eagerly looking forward to meet you. But thanks to God my Uncle, brothers and my lovely neice (Asefa, Tesfay, Alem and the lucky 2nd generation Naomi Tesfaye ) met you.

As the youngest daughter of your sister Alamz Aitenfisu, me and my brothers use to go through your books that have been kept in a big box for a long time. Your sister and your brothers used to tell us how much you treasure and love your books. So, they kept reminding us not to damage it. So, Gash Eshitu you have been in all our mind and heart and will remain. God keep your soul safe and may your soul rest in eternal peace. 🙏

Mahlet Mebrate, Netsanet Animut (my husband) and lovely boys Brook Netsanet, kidus Netsanet and Aman Netsanet.

Dear Gash Eshetu

In the memorial of your name we all would like to write a letter to you. We are all in deep grief that you cant be here with us today, but God has decided to have you back and that is decision that nobody could ever change. as an individual meeting you was the best moment of my life that I’m most grateful for. I might have not known you as well as your brothers and sister did, but i definitely know that you were an amazing man.

For a long time of our life you couldn't be found among us but note that just because you weren't with us physically doesn't mean that you weren't with us by heart. God had made a miracle for you and all of us to help us get together with your beloved brothers and sister one more time before you rested easy. That was an unforgettable and grateful moment for all of us.
