Everett and I found out  that we were neighbors ( lived in the same Upper East side Building: Astor Terrace, at 245 E 93rd Street ) when I was a radiology resident at Einstein / Montefiore from 1992 - 96. We bonded almost immediately, as we shared a similar mistrust / contempt for pomposity in positions of authority. We often rode back and forth to work together when I was not on call, and rotating through the Montefiore campus. Always had a great time chewing' the fat about any topic under the sun. Everett liked me, because I suspect that I was the rare person who could keep up with him, and, on occasion, stump him, which, he grudgingly respected. When I was away in Washington for a 6 week graduate course, my folks stayed in my apartment. They and Everett got on particularly well. When it came time for me to move on, Everett wrote me a very flattering letter of recommendation, in which he referred to me as a colleague, and as a friend.  He will be missed

Shocked to hear of your loss. Craig and I have so many fun memories of our hiking trip together with Backroads.  It was wonderful fate to meet you and share the adventures and start a friendship with our NY and Vegas connections.  Everett was taken too soon.  We send our belated love and deepest sympathy.

Dear Suzanne,  Dana. Marissa, Heather and the entire family   We are beyond heartbroken over Everett 's passing.  Neil and I treasure the family events, parties and vacations we spent together. I can not express sincerely enough how much I enjoyed his quirky sense of humor, his kindness, his ability to converse in such an intelligent and interesting context and his unwavering love and devotion to Suzanne. Dear Suzanne, Dana, Douglas and the Lautin Family, Our hearts are broken as we learned the news. Extending our deepest condolences on Everett’s passing. Trying to express just how much Everett meant to our lives is challenging. Everett was an authentic friend with whom we shared much in our developing lives. Everett was a man with unusual dimension. He was a respected physician, a wonderful teacher, piano player, photographer, a writer, both artistic and scientific. He was fun and he was funny. His beautiful presence was felt in all our many interactions. Everett’s knowledge was vast. He was devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Most of all he was kind. He was a man with a huge loving heart. He is best described as a gentleman and scholar. Indeed Everett was a man who made a difference to all those lucky enough to know him. He will be surely missed. Dearest Suzanne and the Lautins-
Bob and I are so deeply saddened to hear about Everett’s passing. He was an incredible physician and kind friend to our family and such a special person. We will treasure all the wonderful memories of our dinners together at Shun Lee  and the countless parties where he was always the witty guest who wowed everyone with his breadth of knowledge, savvy puns and ability to connect. We are truly grateful for having had him as a dear friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in this sad time.

I have gotten to know Everett these past 2 years working on his taxes and consider him not just a client, but a friend.  We talked often and he always had a joke ready and every time made me crack up.  I have 2 very young children and he always asked how they were doing and wanted me to share pictures.  I truly appreciated our conversations and will miss them greatly.  My sincerest condolences to you all.

I remember playing tennis with Everett and my father in New Rochelle, New York. More recently we enjoyed at nice meal at Smith and Wollensky. There I recall Everett telling stories about how he is related to Emma Goldman. May his memory be a blessing.
