Desde que tengo uso de razón, guardo memorias contigo. No siempre fueron por largos períodos de tiempo, porque la distancia entre nosotros hacía que nuestros encuentros fueran breves, pero cada visita, cada llamada y cada gesto tuyo dejaron una huella imborrable en mi vida. No hay etapa de mi infancia, adolescencia o adultez que no esté marcada por tu presencia.

Siempre estuviste pendiente de mí. Llamándome. Preguntando cómo estaba. Asegurándote de que aprendiera,  estudiara, y me comportara correctamente. 

Recuerdo cosas tan simples que hoy significan tanto. Como aquella discusión por la bicicleta y tú negado porque decías que me iba a caer y yo te decía pero de los pies me caigo también! 

Recuerdo la emoción cuando decían que íbamos a visitarte a Salcedo. Y escucharte decir “oh, mi negra”… esa frase tuya que todavía resuena en mi corazón. O tu clásico “¿oh sí?” siempre con alegría, bromeando. Fuiste un hombre fuerte, incluso cuando la vida no fue fácil contigo.

Cuando cumplí mis quince  viajaste para estar conmigo. Ese gesto lo dijo todo. 

Siempre diste seguimiento a mis estudios, calificaciones, a cada paso de mi formación. Si hoy soy profesional, si puedo sostener a mi familia y parte del ser humano que soy, es en gran medida por ti. 

Tus llamadas empezaban en broma y terminaban en risas. Fuiste el abuelo más cariñoso que pude tener, aun con la distancia. 

Me duele que no  conocieras a Marianne. Estoy segura de que ella te hubiera amado tanto como yo. 

Hoy me duele pensar que ya no estarás físicamente con nosotros. Escribo esto con lágrimas, pero también con fe de que estás en un lugar mejor, sin sufrimiento. Y con la esperanza de que algún día volveré a escucharte decir: “Mi negra”.

Gracias, abuelo, por tu amor, por tu ejemplo y por tu legado.

Pasé gran parte de mi infancia contigo. Siempre tendrás un lugar especial en mi corazón. Gracias por las risas que compartimos. Descansa en paz. Te quiero, abuelo.

Fue mas que un padrino, pero como un segundo padre para mi, nunca olvidaré todo el amor y cariño que siempre me brindo. Tio era un hombre que nunca lo vi enojado sino con una sonrisa y con un abrazo. Tio fue un gran hombre que siempre estuvo ahi para toda la familia y sus amistades cercanas. Hoy le doy gracias a Dios que me permitió estar ahi en sus últimos dias, y que le pude decir todo lo que yo sentía por el  en mi corazón. Perdelo me rompió mi corazón. Pero  se que el esta con Dios y esta descansando y en un mejor lugar. Nunca lo olvidaré

There are no words that can describe the kind, wonderful, generous man who was my Tio Rafael. He was just always there, a presence that somehow just made life feel safe and full of love. He always made sure to let me know how proud he was of me when I graduated from high school, college, and law school. I wish my kids could have known him in his prime, but I am so happy they got to meet him and get a hint of that warmth and love. We will miss you so much, Tio, and we love you always.

Today, I write this note to remember and celebrate the life of my father-in-law, Don Rafael, who was a truly remarkable man. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched everyone he met. 
I remember the first time I met him—his warm smile and genuine interest in others immediately made me feel like part of the family. He was a wonderful man who loved his family deeply. I see so much of his strength and humor in my husband Luis, and I am grateful to have met him and become part of his family.
Thank you, Don Rafa, for welcoming me into your family with open arms!
I will deeply miss you!

La pérdida de mi hermano dejará un gran vacío en mi vida. Él estuvo ahí para mí cuando llegué a este país, me consiguió el trabajo donde podía trabajar con él en CBS todos los días. Esos son los mejores recuerdos: él trayendo un café todas las noches, los cruceros juntos, pasar tiempo en el parque de la 106. Si comenzara a enumerar todos mis maravillosos recuerdos, sería interminable. Me alegra que siempre conserve esos recuerdos felices, que él vivió sabiendo cuánto lo amaba y que él sabe que ese amor siempre estará conmigo.

Siempre lo recordare con mucho carin̈o y amor,  por siempre tendra un lugar muy especial en mi corazon. Descanse en Paz Rafael 💙

Some of my greatest childhood memories were spent with papa, Whether it was me being excited to get dressed up to celebrate a holiday and go to mass or a simple weekend watching sports. 
His devotion to his family will always be what I admired the most. He created the perfect balance of love and dedication to everyone he loved and cared for. The way his smile lit up any room he walked into or his hugs that made you feel like the safest place in the world.
I will forever be grateful for the memories I have with him and the stories I continue to share with my children and the ones they created with him as well. He always made sure I knew he was proud of me. I hope to continue to make him proud. Continue to watch over us. I will love you always papa! ❤️

You will be missed and valued by all of us. We love you and appreciate everything you've done for so many people throughout your life. I know you're watching over us, and your love and guidance will continue to be with us always. ❤️

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family Rafael leaves behind  his loving wife, three sons, and cherished grandchildren. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Rafael before his illness, I have heard so many beautiful stories about how kind and hardworking he was, and how deeply devoted he was to his family.

As I carry my son in my womb, knowing he will be a Reynoso fills me with pride. I hope he will carry his great-grandfather’s strength, kindness, and dedication. Through Ennis’s memories and the love shared about his grandfather, we will keep Rafael’s presence alive. He will never be forgotten  his legacy will live on through our son.

Growing up, some of my most cherished memories were the weekly visits my father and I made to see my grandparents. No matter what was happening in life, walking through that door and seeing my grandfather Rafael waiting with open arms always felt like coming home. He embodied love in its purest form—gentle, steady, and unconditional. The tenderness he showed me is the same warmth he extended to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

One of the greatest lessons he gave me was the value of hard work and dedication. Whether he was running the bodega or working long overnight shifts at CBS, Rafael approached every responsibility with perseverance. His work ethic wasn’t just something he practiced, it was something he lived. And it is a legacy he quietly passed on to me, one I intend to honor and carry forward with my own children.

I will miss him dearly. His love, his strength, and his example will forever remain a part of who I am.
May you rest in peace, Abuelo Rafael. Your impact lives on through all of us.
