I Daniel Hammoud had the privilege to know the man and the legend Gerald Shargel. Although only his doorman I viewed him as a larger than life figure. From his brilliant tactical courtroom prowess to his loving nature that he displayed to his entire family was next level class and affection. Mr. Shargel displayed a humbleness not seen in any type of celebrity. I have never seen anyone so laser focussed when he was on a case, he was always on point. The man never had a negative thing to say about anyone. A true believer in innocent until proven guilty. If I would do something foolish (which was quite often) he would tell me like a man to my face as opposed to reporting me to the super or management. A rarity in my line of work. Mr. Shargel was always fare and never judged people by anything else but their character. I loved the fact that he had a beautiful poster of the amazing Martin Luther King in his apartment office. Times when I needed legal advice he would invite me upstairs to his apartment and help me navigate what I was going through. Always ending the meeting with "Dan if you need me please call". What SUPER LAWYER extends himself in such a manner to his doorman? NOBODY! I miss you Mr. Shargel I miss a lot about what you stood for and the man you were. In my opinion you were Michael Jordan of law- the best that ever did it. A man whose brilliance was off the charts and commanded respect of every socioeconomic group imaginable. The definition of a man's man. Your caring wife and amazing children were their for me after you passed when I was at my darkest time-will never forget that. I can go on and on but you get the picture Mr. Shargel there will never be another you on a multitude of fronts. I thank you for letting me get to know you on the level that I did. A remarkable individual THE GREAT ONE-GERALD SHARGEL. Your troublemaker Doorman Danny will always miss you and my appreciation of all you did for me has and will never waver.

My condolences to the Shargel family. I was an FBI case agent who got to experience being cross-examined by Jerry. While not the most pleasant experience of my life, I respected his skill and dedication to providing the best defense possible for his client.  Outside the courtroom he was a gentleman, a great intellect and great conversationalist.  For our system of justice to work, men like Jerry are a necessity, may he Rest In Peace, he was truly one of a kind.

Remembering all our family gatherings.. we were eight first cousins!!Jerry the oldest!! Fond memories of family Seders  with all the cousins and Aunts and Uncles.. always loud noisy and fun.. Sunday trips from Brooklyn to New Brunswick so family could be together!!Rest In Peace cousin!!💕💕Carole  Shargel Walters

I took Prof Shargel for Crim Procedure II in my second year of law school at Brooklyn Law. What a wonderful professor who used his talents to the fullest. I remember he let us watch him in court in lieu of an evening class. He would also bring in a former client to discuss what the experience was like behind bars. This was someone very passionate about what he did and is already missed. Rest In Peace.
