Gloria E. Perez

Gloria Esther Perez was born on 02/13/1940 in Puerto Rico. At age 15 she came to Brooklyn to be with her mom and family. She graduated from Eli Whitney High School and went into banking for many years. Later on she became a receptionist at The Brick Church where she finally retired at age 79. My mom married my dad Antonio (Tony) Perez on 08/05/1961. Together they had three children David Perez, Delma Perez Gottlieb (spouse David Gottlieb), Wendy Perez and a bonus son Antonio Perez, Jr. from Tony.

Gloria exemplified selflessness. She poured her heart and soul into everything she did and everyone she knew. To know her was to love her. She lived in Yorkville for 65 years where she served her community, church , and her family and friends. Approximately 2 years ago she moved to California to live with her daughter and son-in-law since living in Manhattan by herself was becoming a challenge. While she loved being in California, surrounded by family and love, she missed her home and independence. New York was always in her heart. On November 04, 2025 she took her last breath with her two daughters by her side. She transitioned peacefully with love and dignity in her daughter’s home.

Gloria was truly an angel on earth. She loved her family and friends dearly. She is survived by her two daughters, bonus son, six grandchildren,[ Jubilee Vera (spouse Carlos Vera), Kristina Perez, Samantha Gottlieb, Stephanie DeSantis (spouse Daniel DeSantis), Jonathan Gottlieb and David Anthony Perez], and seven great grandchildren, [Jeremy Torres, Julianna Vera, Carlos “Tony “ Vera, Aryana Gomez, Mariah Gomez, Ke’Amara Perez, Francesca DeSantis, and another baby DeSantis on the way]. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all of them because of her beautiful and altruistic being. We will never forget our angel and we know that her memory will always be a blessing to anyone who loved her. May her soul rest in peace beside her husband, son, and all of her loved ones who left before her. Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma we will always love you and you will forever live on in our hearts.
