Dear loved ones of Haran

       I could go on and on about what Haran brought of himself, because he had significant character, known by those who got close to him. He had so many characteristics of an outstanding teacher. He was well-read, he was caring, and he had an inquiring mind.

       I met Haran as part of an educational workshop group aimed at sharing with others what we discovered about our inner world experience. The emphasis was on what’s truthful more than what’s most impressive. He showed a constant willingness to reveal his uncertainties rather than telling stories to make us impressed. This constant honesty demonstrated the power of his courage and willingness. Haran was an explorer, so he respected the curiosity of his students and close ones and was stimulated by it.

       There is much more that I could share in an admiring sense. Right now, in this moment of losing him from within this world and allowing that he could remain in coherent intelligence and be reborn later, which is my educated wish, I feel Haran would want me to share of what he spoke to me personally of the quality of all the people he loved, and of his love and marriage with Puspa as a centerpiece. Haran found adventure and profound expansion came into his life with his loving marriage with Puspa, where he shared his appreciations of the human inner world complexities and sensitivities and found he was rewarded with the pleasures of Puspa’s bold willingness to push ahead and try something new, something uncommon, and she enthused, and he agreed, that they could make journeys together, whether at home or making travel. 

       Haran would want Puspa to continue her appreciation for journeys and would encourage this. Haran will always want only the best for Puspa. This was the quality of his respect and care.

Haran was the best of friends, sweet and thoughtful, when I moved to Brooklyn from Paris by myself he welcomed me to his borough and the city, after being introduced to me by our common friend Christina. He was patient and funny as I adjusted to this new environment. We had many conversations in which we realized how aligned our world views were, he was a strong believer in social justice. In his career as a teacher and then as a speech pathologist he was part of the change he wanted to see in the world and he did it by helping others. We also shared a love for movies that took us to see some very good films and some pretty bad ones but a night cap at Junior’s made it all ok not matter how bad the film was. I miss you buddy.

Dear Haran’s, loved ones  
My deepest condolences. I am truly sorry about Haran's passing. I was a fellow member with Haran of an educational workshop group that met every few months throughout the pandemic period and before through Zoom. I hope each of you, Puspa, mom, brother, sister, nephews, and everyone close to Haran, will somehow find comfort in your hearts. Losing someone like him at such a young age is incredibly difficult. He will surely be missed by everyone who knows him.  

From my interactions with him, I saw him as a gentle soul, a good-hearted person, someone who was just trying to figure out life. It seemed that all he wanted was to find the best version of himself and, in doing so, to give the best of himself to those around him, in his classroom and the world, especially as a teacher. He taught us to pursue honesty within ourselves. 
 
Coincidentally, I was at the base of the Space Needle for the first time exactly a week ago. Thankfully, my wife didn’t want to go up, which brought me great relief, as, like Haran, I am terrified of heights. I also lost my mother recently, on September 16th; she was just two months shy of 94 years old. While her loss is incredibly painful, Haran’s passing is even more so. As Haran’s mother said, parents should never have to give a eulogy at their child’s funeral. I weep for you, Mom.  

I truly hope that not knowing what lies beyond, he found truth within himself and that he is now at peace, free from the mental struggles, anguish, and inner battles we faced almost moment by moment. I hope he has finally found the inner peace he deserved and more than that he feels like a real being.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Peckney’s passing. He was an extraordinary teacher and an even more extraordinary person. I feel so fortunate to have had the privilege of learning from him. His warmth, passion, and genuine care for his students made a lasting impact on me, and I know I’m not alone in feeling his influence.
He always went above and beyond to ensure his students felt seen and valued. His love for teaching was evident in everything he did, and it made us all want to do our best. He inspired us with his kindness, dedication, and endless enthusiasm, and his legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. 
My thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.

The LMG gang. Good times at Soda bar. I will miss our talks in the van on the drop offs to the train. We would sit there brainstorming and sharing how we could help the kids we both were passionate about. You were an amazing person Haran and helped so many. My son Jordan will miss you. When I told him of your passing he was devastated. 💔
