EISENSTEIN, Howard passed away peacefully on May 24th after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Annapolis, MD in 1931, he was a long-time resident of New York City. He built his career as an entrepreneur in the burgeoning bowling industry and, following the sale of his business, Syosset Lanes, dedicated his time to working as a dedicated volunteer at Temple Emanu-El in NYC, feeding the homeless, reading to the blind and teaching English as a second language. He was the devoted husband of Joan Buehler Eisenstein for over 50 years, and loving father to his children, James Eisenstein and Susan Batterton, and their spouses, Beth Eisenstein and Kevin Batterton. He also deeply loved and cherished his five grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny Eisenstein O’Neill and Kevin O’Neill, Katie Eisenstein Renehan and Brendan Renehan, James Eisenstein, and Nicole and Danielle Kerz. He cherished the love and companionship of his dear friend, Barbara Haas. He is also survived by his wonderful partner, Nancy Beres, and loving sister, Anna Greenberg. He was a kind and gentle soul, who was deeply loved and will be missed by all. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday May 29th from 6:00-8:00pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be on May 30th at 10:00am at Temple Emanu-El’s Beth El Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
