Ivan passed away peacefully at home with his wife Roberta Moore Hobson at his side. He leaves a big, beautiful, loving family of Hobsons and Moores and their mates and offspring, and years of wonderful memories. Ivan was born in the heart of Brooklyn to Albertina Nesbitt Hobson and James Hobson and grew up in a huge family whose roots were in the Caribbean island of Nevis. He was a long-time resident of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the best place to live in all the world as far as he was concerned.
Ivan was loved for his gregarious nature, making friends wherever he went and pretty much being the life of the party. He was the family fashion icon and took pride in being teased endlessly about his meticulous attire and his penchant “to tell it like it is,” as all the nieces and nephews will attest. He had many life-long friends from his days of service in the US Army and his years of working in publishing and advertising.
Ivan loved life, lived it to the fullest, and is now at peace after a prolonged battle with illness. The family wishes to extend special gratitude that can never be expressed in words to his loving caregiver, Gloria Francois, who was with him for the past two years and contributed to the quality of life he enjoyed up to the end.
