I will miss you James. You were the brother I never had. Your joy for life, your boundless energy, your generosity and endless kindness was so very unique, beautiful ... an inspiration. I will never forget all our trips and adventures together, whether skiing or cycling in Alaska, Yellowstone, Big Sky, Europe, New England, upstate NY or LI. Enjoying our big glorious city and its museums, theater, the opera and all the restaurants and bars, events and parties and still dragging us to Church on a Sunday morning or the last mass on Sunday evening.
Our thousands of hours of conversation whether on the phone or while enjoying a bottle of Italian or Napa red on a myriad of topics from history, politics, the railroads, navy ships, the navy, Italy, Ireland and the world. So intelligent, so erudite, always so positive. The glass was not just half full but overflowing.
You touched so many people in so many different worlds, kind to each, whether the waitress or the bank president. You brought so many people together, kept in touch regardless of the constraints of time and distance. 

I will miss you, your family will miss you, your many friends will miss you. There will be a void in our lives that will not ever be filled ... except perhaps if we channel the love, joy, kindness, generosity you demonstrated to us.
A life well lived my dear James.

From to the clubs to the couch my friend James always listened and presented his views so well. We will all miss your advice council and good cheer. You were a great scout, a better friend and great human being. We were all lucky to know you and share some of our lives with you. Thanks my friend. I will never forget you... Love, Robert

James , Jennifer (wife), Megan (step daughter) and my in laws Judy and Al (RIP). They loved James!

James was also  my closest friend for 50 years. So many memories of great times and just hanging out with a drink having a "good chat". Growing up an only child I always felt like James was as close as I could have had to an older(10 months!) brother and that he was part of my family  and that I was part of his.
 I will always remember my friend  for his kind and gentle nature ; his smile and eternal optimism. 
I thank him for his friendship and his family for welcoming me to theirs from 10 th grade on. I miss him already tremendously.

Dear Ed and Margie,
I’m so very sorry for the loss of your beloved brother, James.  We were introduced to each other back in 1995 by Jane Hemenway Sullivan if not earlier.  Probably earlier.  James was such a kind and true gentleman, who deserved and deserves the highest honor, respect and accolades.  Please know that I truly mourn him.  We will renew our acquaintance on Tuesday at the wake.  Very sadly, Amoret Gates Thissell

James was one of the most kindest, generous, friendly, outgoing and wonderful human beings I have ever met.  I met James through my (now) sister-in-law and he welcomed me with open arms.  The best memories of my life have been with James.  We shared many dinners and nights attending parties - especially at the WNRC in NYC.  
Every occasion was one of celebration.  His enthusiasm for life was evident and he met others with his warm smile and joking manner.  
To have him as a friend was truly an honor and a blessing. He has left an indelible mark on this world of being altruistic and warm hearted.  
Thank you James for the privilege of knowing you and having you as my friend.  You are one of those rare gems and will truly be missed.

James was my closest friend for over 50 years. I can’t believe he is gone. I will always cherish the fun memories we shared. My deepest condolences to Ed, Margie and Elizabeth and the many family and friends that whose lives he touched.

I started my own charity in Malawi (Africa) in 2019. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. We accomplished many great things for the poor people. One of the accomplishments was to sponsor 7 kids to boarding school (6 girls and 1 boy). This is similar to our high school. Jim has sponsored the boy for 4 years of his education. The cost to sponsor a student was $525/year and Jim was always forthcoming with his annual check to provide an education for a child. That boy is now applying to engineering school.
    I thank Jim for his kindness, compassion and generosity.  I am going to miss you Buddy.  Your passing was so unexpected! The world needs more people like Jim Moore. See you in the next life. Save me a spot!

Met James at the WNRC with Joe Luchi. What fun times we had organizing events and going to parties. James knew everyone and introduced so many people to me.  I will always be grateful for his kindness and generosity.
