

Born in Jeremie, Haiti, the 7th of March 1927, Jeannette Mesilas, nee Paulemon, was the youngest of seven children who preceded her in death. She worked for several years as a laboratory technician in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She married Jean S. Mesilas, and from that union, bore two children, Lucien and Marie Agnes Elsie, who were the center of her life.
After her husband passed away, she immigrated to New York, U.S.A. in 1971 where she resided and worked. This was her home until she died, June 23rd 2018, after complications from a fall.
Jeannette Mesilas was a humble, compassionate, kind, family oriented and religious person. She attended Holy Name Church in Manhattan where she was a Eucharistic Minister, and also a member of a prayer group called “ Priere et Partage”.
She leaves behind: her children, Elsie Mesilas, Lucien Mesilas; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca and granddaughter Courtney. Other members of her family affected by her death, include her nieces: Glorifienne Bernard, Vela Charles Elie and her husband Henry; Laud Charles; Aimante Paulemon; her nephews: Willie Paulemon and Auchasse Charles and wife, Lucienne; her great nieces: Dr. Marie Carmelle Turennes, nee Elie, and family, and also, Lucianna and famiy; her great nephews: Joey, GiGi and Ralph. Her cousins: Yvette Luxama and children, Marie Josee Berthomieux, Ulrick Paulemon, Carl Paulemon, Aurel Roland, Serge Bijoux and family; Ismene Fanfan and family and Hercule Pierre and family. She also leaves to cherish her memory, many friends near and far.
