Born in Manhattan to Jeannette and Jerome Lester Mayer, Jerome attended Horace Mann then Syracuse University before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Korean War. A lover of hiking and skiing, he remained active well into his 80s.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Enken Mayer, and his niece Jonill Mayer, daughter of his late brother John Mayer. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Eike Mario, nieces and nephews Andrea, Michael, Stephen, Thomas, Beatrice, Donna, and Karina, neighbors, friends, and caregivers Annette Ferguson and especially Namina Bah.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you to make a gift in his honor to the ASPCA.
Family will receive relatives and friends 11am – 12pm at Frank E. Campbell – The Funeral Chapel on Wednesday Oct. 25 with a funeral service to follow at 12pm.
