

Born on November 27, 1934, in Henderson, North Carolina, Jesse dedicated his life to service, compassion, and love for his family. He was a proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and went on to earn his master’s degree from Fordham University. He became a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., a brotherhood that reflected his lifelong commitment to leadership, scholarship, and service.
After his college years, Jesse proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force. His leadership, integrity, and dedication to service were hallmarks of his time in uniform and remained guiding principles throughout his life.
Following his education and military service, Jesse pursued a meaningful career as a social worker, where his tireless commitment to helping others touched countless lives and strengthened his community.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Jesse will be most remembered for his humor, warmth, and kindness.
Jesse is preceded in death by his wife, June; his daughter, Diane; and his brothers, Harold, Armstead, and Emmanuel.
He leaves behind his son David, daughter Myra, his devoted partner Nilza, daughter-in-law Loreen, and his beloved brothers & sisters (John, Carver, Rene, Alexander, Krekor, Bessie, Maxine, Eva, Mary and Mary “Cokey”). He is also survived by his grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Jesse’s life was one of quiet strength, service, and love. His family and friends take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the values he instilled and the lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, located at 180 W 76th St, New York, New York, 10023. The service is scheduled for September 19, 2025, starting at 1:30 pm.
