I lived down the street from Joan, moved to the Far Rockaway area from Astoria, Queens. However, I didn't meet Joan until 1 year later at JHS 198. We became good friends. I was like, this girl is way to quiet for me.... Then I met the real Joan :-) If there was something she really liked Joan could talk!!! I would tell my Mom I was going to Joan's for a minute and be over there for hours. Those were such fun times.

I’ve known Joan for the past six years, and worked closely with her for the past year and a half. To me, Joan is Iron Woman: a woman who is resilient, hardworking, and unafraid of adversity and challenges. No matter what life throws at her, she’ll continue moving forward without hesitation. She truly loved her job and dedicated much of her life to BNY Mellon. Despite chemotherapy sessions in the morning, she would continue to go to work with a smile and her dedication to her passion never gone unnoticed. That dedication and resilience inspires my team and myself every day. While Joan has silently closed the door of life, she’ll remain as one of the strongest woman I’ve known in my life. I will miss her greatly.

I've worked with Joan for close to 30 years and over that time I've marveled at how upbeat and personal she was. I will truly miss her humor and wonderful attitude, I lost a wonderful friend in Joan. Over the years I would address her as "The Lovely and Talented" which if I should forget, she would remind me, (I rarely forgot though.)

Now I pray that God will continue to support and hold both you and your family in his hands. Joan, I will miss you!
