I just learned of this. I am so shocked and sad! Joan and I hadn't spoken in a while due to some rough times in my life and I retreated from the world. She was such a good friend and had a wonderful heart and spirit. I am so sorry for her sisters and nephews. The world lost a good person. I love and miss you Joan! Please forgive me that I didn't stay in touch well this past year. I hope you're with your Mom and Dad having a feast in Aunt Jenny's basement!

I was totally shocked when I heard that Joan had gone home to be with Jesus! Joan opened her apartment to my husband and I when we visited NY even though I only knew her by phone (she was a friend of my brother's). In any event, she graciously showed us around NY and we had a great time! She will be missed! Prayers to her family and friends.

Joan and I had / have Great Memories!  I'll Miss Her Dearly! What a Hoot! Her Attitude, Demeanor, Personality, and Much More!  Ya gotta know Joan! -  all who read this that new her can appreciate what we will miss.  One of a Kind - that can never be replaced.  She went home to Our Father and we'll surely see her again. I miss Joan. She was a quintessential New Yorker-spirited, original, funny and a great big heart inside a strong soul!

Joan is a very special person, bringing joy and laughter to anyone who crossed her path. Her Ginger brought her much joy and a venue for her to become my best firend. I will miss her terribly, as will my Sparky and Ginger - but she will always be in my heart and mind. My deepest condolences to her family and to Ms. Ginger.

This may be the first for anyone reading this - but my best friend was taken away from me - only a couple of days from us last talking - in fact, us walking together to take Ginger to her grooming appointment - she is Ginger # 2 in our "hood' - but I write this to My Dear Joan - If you can hear me, know that I love you always - while we lived so close, litteraly around the block for years - we simply met due to our dogs- how ironic that we both got havanesses's! - mine born first and named her Ginger - and along you come, and purchase the same and name her Ginger! our Ginger's figured this relationship out! LOL - I will miss your smiles, and laughs, friendship and love - you are an extradionary lady and in my heart, soul and mind thoughtout the rest of our lives as I know I still feel you, hear you and will see you again in a better place! Joan was a very sweet person. I enjoyed working and gossiping with her at HAKS these past few years. I will truly miss her and her Sweeties candies she always gave to me. My condolences to her family and her doggie.

I always admired Joanne that she did her own thing and was very successful, with a smile always.  She's in heaven now but a great loss to our earthly community.  May her spirit fill you hearts.

We honor Joni's generous heart and her indomitable spirit.  We will miss her laughter.
