

Joan Harriet Herron passed away quietly in Lakewood, NJ on February 2, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born on June 7, 1950 and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Joan graduated from Brentwood High School in 1968. Joan received a BA with High Honors, Honors College, Michigan State University and an MBA degree from Loyola University (Chicago).
Joan is preceded in death by her mother, Doris Kalet Herron and her father, Dr. Seymour A. Herron. She is survived by her mother of 50 years, Marilyn Brodsky Neuwirth Herron, children, Joshua A. Wood (Lucio Castro), Dr. Sarah M. Wood (Dr. Daniel Yemin), her grandchildren, Simone and Judah Yemin and Helen and Alma Castro-Wood, her partner Robert Price, sisters Dr. Carol Herron Lustig (Michael) and Susan Neuwirth Johnson (Mark), brothers Bruce M. and Thomas J. Herron (Jane), niece and nephews, Emily Federico (Edward), Jesse Herron (Lacy) and Andrew Stoffo, great-nephews EJ and Brandon Federico and Cole Herron plus numerous close cousins, friends and business associates.
Joan was a founding partner and president of the Atlanta-based Herron Consulting Ltd. a woman-owned business, which was certified by the nationally-recognized Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). She had extensive experience working with private sector, public and not-for-profit clients and published numerous articles on economic development, site selection and industrial site certification programs and retail redevelopment.
Joan’s greatest pleasures in life were her children and grandchildren and she instilled in them her love of Judaism. Joan enjoyed traveling, hiking and dancing to the Motown sound.
