Born on November 8, 1930 to Frank and Catherine Henn, and raised in New Hyde Park, New York, Joan's life was shaped early by the values she would carry always -- faith, family, and a kind and open heart. Her story took a beautiful turn on March 8, 1952, when she met the love of her life, Joseph Ruberti, at a party. What followed was 54 years of a marriage defined by loyalty, devotion, and deep tenderness -- a love story that those who witnessed it will never forget. Together, Joan and Joe raised six children and built a family legacy rooted in warmth and belonging -- one that lives on vividly in the lives of all who knew her. In her final years, Joan resided at The Bristal Memory Care facility, where she was cherished not only by her family but by her dedicated personal aides - Bertha, Pilar, and Magaly - whose kindness and care brought comfort and love to her days. She is survived by her children: Ellen (Tom), Karen, Tom (Antoinette), Kimberley, Ted (Anna), and Timothy (Wendy); and by her ten grandchildren: Jason, Carter, Truman, Sophia, Luke, Calvin, Alexa, Ava, Cooper, and Violet and one great-grandchild. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica's Church, 413 East 79th Street, New York followed by a repast at Botte Restaurant. Interment will take place at St John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Joan's memory.
