Beloved Fr. John — priest, mentor, orator and grandfather to James and Graham. An extraordinary man with an abundance of knowledge and wisdom. Anyone who was blessed with the gift of his love and friendship will have his presence forever in what he was able to impart upon them. Life lessons. A gentle man. The most genuine and sincere individual whose heart and soul were the love of St. Thomas Church and her congregation. May a choir of angels sing him to his rest. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. And as he would say, "Now get on with it."

Father Andrew encouraged me to go to seminary, taught me how to preach, and was instrumental in finding a diocese and a bishop who would ordain me.  Our friendship continued until his death.

I was John Andrew's Curate in Preston Lancashire, while also teaching at Hutton Grammar School. He enabled me to do many "different things," while fulfilling his aspiration to be a good and Holy Priest. Though working in education, in interconvictional dialogue and for the Church of England at the European Institutions were very different, John made it possible. I am still involved in that field. I remember him with fondness and gratitude.   James Barnett

Many wonderful memories of his stirring sermons during my Juilliard years when studying with Gerre Hancock.

Father John Andrew preached the best sermons and was instrumental in making St Thomas church the inspiring centre of worship that it is. He was also a very kind man and was especially so towards me when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Attending his services when I lived in NYC from 1983-1996 was a joy and an education. He will be sorely missed by the many whom he touched.

Father Andrew baptized me, saw to my confirmation and elevation to Senior Chorister within the St. Thomas Choir School and provided much needed spiritual guidance during formative years. His loss is deeply felt.

Father Andrew was a deeply formative priest in my spiritual journey, particularly during my undergraduate years at Columbia.  I give thanks for his ministry.

He made St Thomas a welcoming church where you knew you would get glorious music and thoughtful preaching that was not afraid of depth or humor.  For many of us who were young and alone in New York at the time, he created a rather splendid home.

I had the privilege of enjoying many wonderful services by Fr. Andrew at St. Thomas' Church.  His enthusiasm and kindness will be missed.  What a pleasure it was to have met him. May he rest in peace.
