

John was a family man, husband, father and businessman. He loved life and drew great inspiration, fulfillment, and happiness from his family, friends, colleagues and country.
Born on December 3rd, 1953 on Long Island, to Edna Louise Bahnken and Cornelius John Bahnken, John is survived by his loving life partner Laura Langdon, and beloved daughter Ashley Ann Bahnken. Laura and John met in San Francisco in 2015 and had a wonderful life together. He leaves behind his sisters Linda Robinson, Patricia Doner and her husband Ray, brother James Bahnken, his nieces and nephews, and dear mother-in-law Ann Christensen. He is predeceased by his former wife Lynn Ann Bahnken.
John grew up modestly on Long Island and graduated with BBA and MBA degrees from Hofstra University. He moved to Westchester County in his 20s. He was blessed with a rich and wonderful life with his family and friends. He created a successful career as a banker and wealth manager for over four decades, serving as a senior leader in a number of the most successful financial firms in America. He traveled the world for business and pleasure extensively and was very grateful for all the friends and colleagues he made along the way.
His second home was always Palm Beach, Florida, where he spent many winters over the last 25 years and retired in 2020. He was fond of saying that “after he retired he would never be cold again.”
A celebration of his life will take place at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Avenue, New York, NY on Tuesday November 29th, from 5:30-7:30pm.
He and his family extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the world renowned doctors of Mass General Brigham, Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancer who have dedicated their lives to treating pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers please consider providing whatever financial support you can for research to help find a cure for this horrible disease.
A memorial service for John will be held on Tuesday, November 29th from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel located at 1076 Madison Avenue, New York, New York 10028.
