John Francis Banner

John Francis Banner, born on July 10, 1955, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 70. A beloved lifetime resident of New York City, John was known for being compassionate and sociable, particularly in his community.

John was born and raised in New York City, spending his entire life in the vibrant Yorkville area. He served as a dedicated doorman for over 50 years, a role that enabled him to connect with a broad spectrum of residents and visitors alike. His warm personality and sociable nature made him a fixture in the community, always ready with a helping hand or a kind word.

Survived by his brother, Sean Murphy, and numerous cousins, John relished his family connections deeply and valued those relationships throughout his life. His father, Francis Banner, mother, Marilyn Murphy (nee Kelly), and brother, Patrick Murphy, preceded him in death.

A visitation service will be held at Chas. Peter Nagel Funeral Directors, located at 352 East 87th Street, Apt 1824, New York, NY, 10128, on August 8, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Johnny's close-knit circle of family and friends are invited to join in remembrance of his remarkable life and enduring acts of kindness.
