We were colleagues together in Cardiology. for decades.

Joe was a prince among men and a role model for the complete physician. 

May his memory be a blessing.

While watching a Ken Burns Holocaust film on PBS, there  was  Joe, articulate as ever, awakening memories of our shared time at Long  Island Jewish hospital where we both practiced cardiology. I’ve not spoken with Joe for many years as we were both retired and went our separate ways.  However, seeing  Joe, so vibrant on TV, brought  back pleasant memories and I vowed to Google him when the show ended so I could possibly speak  with him. Sadly he is no longer here  for me to share thoughts and memories with. 
Please accept my belated but nonetheless , sincere condolences . Joe lived a full life and was highly respected by his peers.  May his memory be a blessing to the entire family.  Sincerely, Mel Young MD

Dear Hillsenrath family ,
I’m so sorry to hear about Dr. Hillsenrath.  I liked and admired him very much. Today all of a sudden he popped into my head so I googled him.  I was the Realtor that sold The Ritz and he and Mrs. Hillsenrath were among my first purchasers.  She was the sweetest!  They sat with me for hours and I was able to help  them create the apt of their dreams… I fought hard for that white marble (CARRARA)  for “HER”bathroom and he created one of the best “HIS” bathrooms in the bldg.  One of a kind.   Let’s not forget his fab office!  
I was so impressed by his life story and resilience.. matter of fact, his framed NY Times front page prompted me to start collecting  and framing notable events.  He was so proud of his family and Son John .  Again, so sorry for your loss.. thank God he has a long life❤️

My sincere condolence to the Hilsenrath family..I was honored to have known Joe for more than 35 years as my sister Lisa's father in law.. he was so smart and kind to all of my family..His children and grand children and great grandchildren are am enduring tribute to his legacy 💔
