Joseph Morenzi, known to family and friends as Joe or Joey, was born in New York City on December 23, 1926 to the late Anthony and Amelia (nee Capello). For 86 years he lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, which is where he met his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Trotti).
He was the loving father of Anthony and Evelyn and father-in-law to their spouses Deborah (Debbie) and Luis Ruiz. He will be remembered as the devoted grandfather to Jeremy, Kevin and Dylan and their spouses Catherine, Tatiana and Ellen. He was the cherished great-grandfather to Thomas, Jazmin, Matthew and Vivien.
Throughout his long working life, until he was almost 80 years old and after he retired, he provided for every need of his family. He always tried to bring joy and happiness to everyone by helping them see the positive side to a situation. He enjoyed having a good time and always looked for a reason to have a celebration. Being a great conversationalist and storyteller, he could engage people for hours on end. At any opportunity if there was music, he coaxed Mary to the dance floor. During their lifetime together, Friday night was date night. Going to the movies and out to dinner became a sacred ritual. They also enjoyed going on vacations together. He was an avid reader, enjoyed sports, especially horseracing, and the occasional roll of the dice.
Joe will be remembered as a caring brother to his surviving siblings: Anthony (Tony) and his wife Carol; John and his late wife Frances; and Joan Coy and her late husband, Kenneth (Kenny); his former sisters-in-law, Esther and Charlotte; and to his deceased siblings: Sebastian (Buster) and his late wife Theresa; Vincent (Butch) and Charles (Charlie). He was a thoughtful brother-in-law to Anna Palazzolo and her late husband James (Jimmy); Frank and his wife Maria; Antoinette Picicci and her late husband Vincenzo (Jim); Rocco and his wife Mary; Roger and his wife Mary (Sis); and his deceased sister-in-law, Nancy.
He will always be known as the fun loving uncle to many nephews and nieces, as well as a wonderful friend to many. Having touched the lives of so many people in immeasurable ways, he will be deeply missed.
