

Joe Platnick died April 19, 2014, two months shy of his 90th birthday. Joe was born in Kleipeda, Lithuania and emigrated to the US with his family when he was 16. He spent his last two years of high school in Bluefield, West Virginia. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, as a result of which he became a US citizen. He married Audrey in 1957. After attending CCNY, Joe owned College Printing Inc. in Manhattan, where he worked until he retired in the early 1980s. Joe was an avid computer enthusiast and spent many hours tinkering with his computer.
Six days before Joe’s death, his wife Audrey also passed away. Joe is survived by his son Joe, his wife Kathy and their grandchildren Sara and Stephen. A memorial service to celebrate Audrey’s and Joe’s life will be held at 2pm on May 18, 2014 at Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City, located at Park Ave. and 85th St.
