cherished friend and family member, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026.
Juddie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Sarah Jane
(Scott) and Robert Leonard Simms on September 21, 1960. Eighteen months
later the family was blessed with a son, Peter. Tragically, Sarah died four years
later.
Juddie’s early education included Alain Locke elementary School, St Rose
of Lima, West Catholic Girls’ High School, where she graduated in 1978. She
attended Drexel University and Temple Universities where she studied electrical
engineering.
Juddie was a wonderful woman of many talents and skills, but her best
characteristic was her truly unique sense of humor. She was a hilarious woman
that could change the demeanor of the room in seconds. She always had a
beautiful bright smile and hearty laugh to pair with a sometimes inappropriate
joke. Juddie loved spending time with friends and co-workers over the years and
was a very loving Mother and friend to many. At parties or events, Juddie always
started the Soul Train Line and loved to sing along to classic tracks. She had an
eccentric and stunning sense of fashion and took great pride in her appearance.
One of Juddie’s favorite activities was cosmetology - specifically hair care. She
loved researching, testing and always discussing new hair products with her
friends, hairdresser, hair care store employees and especially Christopher when
around.
Juddie later became a proud longtime resident of Manhattan, New York,
where she built a life defined by intelligence, professionalism, strength, and
compassion. A woman of many talents and remarkable determination, Juddie
began her professional journey as an esteemed voice and screen actor and proud
member of SAG-AFTRA for over twenty years. Her commanding voice,
confidence, and memorable presence left a lasting impression on everyone who
encountered her work.
Later in life, Juddie transitioned into public service, where she served with
distinction as an Administrative Staff Analyst and Executive Manager within the
Comptroller’s Office of the City of New York and the Mayor’s Office of New York
City. Above all else, Juddie treasured being a mother to her only son,
Christopher, whom she loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly throughout
her life.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved son, Christopher
Paulino Simms and Co-Parent Chelo Paulino. Her First Cousins Tonya Sewell of
Philadelphia and William Sewell of Alabama, Nieces Tierra and Sarah, Ex-
Husband William Staton and Life Coach Kathy Dumo and legions of friends,
neighbors and colleagues.
Her legacy of strength, intelligence, love, and resilience will continue to live
on through all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
