Judith Elaine Cohen Weinstein was born on June 2, 1939, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Mary and Morris Cohen and died peacefully on October 13, 2026. She grew up in Burlington, New Jersey, alongside her younger sister, Sheri Cohen Simon. After graduating from Penn State, Judy remained in New Jersey, where she began her career as a teacher and met the love of her life, Arnold Weinstein. They married in 1965, beginning a partnership that would span a lifetime of adventure, family, and travel.
Judy and Arnold shared a love of the outdoors, enjoying ski club trips and time aboard their boat, Old Iron Sides. Judy and Arnold raised their daughters, Stephanie Casper and Jennifer Eigen, first in Newton, Massachusetts, and later in the New York City area. A proud working mother, she earned her MBA while raising her daughters and went on to build a varied career, holding positions with the MBTA, the MA State Controller office, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Merck-Medco.
Throughout her life, Judy believed deeply in giving back to her community. She generously volunteered her time with Michael Dukakis, New York City public schools, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and DOROT. Her commitment to service reflected her belief in the importance of contributing to the lives of others.
In retirement, Judy embraced all that New York City had to offer. She delighted in the theater, symphony, and art exhibitions, while continuing to travel extensively with Arnold, discovering new places and experiences around the globe.
Above all, Judy cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to Stephanie and Jennifer, a loving mother-in-law to Michael Casper and Jon Eigen, and a proud grandmother to Daniel and Chase Casper. Her family was a constant source of joy and pride, and the memories they created together will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
Judy will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, intellectual curiosity, professional accomplishments, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. She lived a full and engaged life, always eager to explore what lay beyond the horizon and to make the most of every opportunity.
