Lee..a very fine music critic..best spirit to Lee

Just learned of death, and am shocked. Too soon gone. We shared many musical interests and many laughs. He found a great soul mate in Wendy, who has my deepest sympathy. RIP, Lee.

Still miss seeing him at the clubs. There are certain artists and venues that specifically make me think of him. Still can't believe he's gone. 

We worked together at Cash Box for several years.  A true professional, a treasure in our business and a friend who always listened to and appreciated others.  We will miss you, Lee and you will remain in our hearts.

My college roommate and a friend for over 40 years.  No one could make me laugh like Lee.  I will always miss him

I will mis my friend terribly. I was always happy to say that Lee was "my oldest friend" having met him freshman year at BU, Communications 101. Travel well, Jeske and see you on the flip side.

Lee was a great guy and a discerning music critic who was all about the spirit of the innovators he championed and didn't give a hoot about what other people said. He was a refreshing presence in the discourse between music writers and will be sorely missed. I think it's safe to say that he lived the life he wanted the way he wanted to and had no regrets at the end. I can't be sure of that of course but I'd like to think that was the case.

Lee was "one of the guys" back in the day and I knew him for 35 years. Spent a lot of time with him in the clubs and at various Verve events over the decades. He was a great writer and a really nice guy. He will be sorely missed. John Newcott (Jersey City, NJ)

I was very saddened by the news of Lee's passing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I will always remember his great sense of humor and hearty laugh. Condolences to Wendi and family.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Lee's passing.  A wonderful writer and always patient with me while pitching my clients' releases.  I always looked forward to our conversations.

I met Lee over 30 years ago.  I was a young publicist at Ren Grevatt Associates and Lee worked in an office down the hall at Cashbox.  We had a ridiculous amount of good times at concerts, beach days at Robert Moses State Park, restaurants, and at his delicious home-cooked meals. He never failed to make me laugh.  His taste was impeccable, his wit, incorrigible, his friendship, invaluable.  Too marvelous for words.  Thank you Lee for all you were and will always be to me.  I will miss you.  Wendi, my deepest sympathy and my heart go out to you.

Lee Jeske was funny guy, a true music lover and a natural storyteller. He combined all those qualities in his writing, which I read for years before I had the pleasure of editing. He helped me find my way in New York City when I was still a bit lost, and to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys: He was distinctly in the former category. Plus, he'd never steer you toward a bad meal. 

Lee's writing made me laugh, often. He did that in person, too, so I enjoyed working with him, knowing him as a colleague and, soon, friend. We shared many good times around music and food, other listeners and city-zens, hanging out with much talk, talk, talk. He lived near my mail-pickup place, so I ran into him on the street and we always chatted, and he and Wendy were fun to have at our parties in Brooklyn. I'll miss him and remember him.
