Leonard Resnicoff passed away on June 18, 2025 at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of Roger (Heather) and Alicia (Ross) Zimbalist. Adoring grandfather of Sam, Matthew and Eli (Zimbalist), Penny and Parker (Resnicoff).
Whether you called him Leonard, Len, Lenny, Papa or Uncle Lenny you knew him as an exceptional, sweet, quiet, and gentle man who always had a smile on his face. Born in the Bronx, and raised in Laurelton, NY to parents Max and Anne, he was one of three brothers. Growing up, Len was an overachieving, accordion-playing Boy Scout. He graduated from high school at age 16 and went on to matriculate at City University of New York; first at City College, and then at Baruch Business School where he earned an MBA. He served in the US Army reserves for six years. Soon after, he began his career in marketing research where he was known to be a collaborative team player and understanding leader, eventually making partner.
In 1966, he met Barbara, whom he married in 1968. They had a marriage that was an example of love and commitment to all who knew them. They were married for almost 57 years.
In 1973 they welcomed a son, Roger, and in 1979, a daughter, Alicia. In 1990, Len suffered a debilitating stroke but he was determined not to let that stop him from living a full life. He served as a board member of the National Aphasia Association for 20 years, honored with an Advocacy award in 2002.
Between 2012 and 2016, his five grandchildren were born; he was absolutely in love with them, and his love and pride for them only grew as they did.
When diagnosed in 2018 with Parkinson’s, he continued to show the world he was a fighter and carried on with his battle. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather every day of his life. Len left an everlasting mark on so many people and will be forever missed.
Services will be on June 22, 2025 at 12pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 West 76th Street at Amsterdam Ave. New York, NY
