Leonard Herschel Wisse

Leonard Herschel Wisse, born June 20, 1930, in Montreal. Beloved son of William and Sonia. Nephew of Vera Slatkin. Husband of Ruth (Roskies), father of Billy (Suzanne Jack), Jacob (Rebecca Lieberman), Abby (Ben Schachter), zeyde of Sonia, Maddy, Theresa, Nate, Pearl, Camilla, Claire, and Isaiah. Uncle (Lenny) to scores of adoring nephews, nieces and campers. Len was a devoted and much-loved cousin, in-law and friend to multiple generations. He graduated from Jewish Peoples School, McGill University, and Université de Montréal, where he received a law degree. He earned the gratitude of clients and the respect of business associates when practicing as a notary for over three decades, before moving to Boston and then to New York City. His work for the Jewish community included terms as president of Akiva School (1969-1972) and board president of the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (1998-2000).
