I knew Lew for almost 40 years. He touched my life in countless ways. He was a wonderful teacher and an amazing supervisor. I learned from his writings. Most of all though, I remember his "kindness" to my son. He knew my son had a less than supportive father. Lew would get off the train in Great Neck, every work day, and walk home to his apartment. On his route was a "David's Cookies" where my son worked. He stopped in every day to supposedly buy a cookie. When he did, he engaged my son, asking him about school, his friends, his interests, etc. Lew provided, in those few minutes, almost every day, a caring adult male figure for my son. He did not have to do it. But he did. That was the typical "Lew." He always went the extra mile. He will be surely be missed by many who, for whatever reason, will not write their stories here. Just know that I am sure he constantly was as kind to others as he was to my son in those few minutes almost every day. We have lost a great psychoanalytic scholar. But mostly, we have lost a mensch. 

I am a better clinician because of the words Lew Aron has written that often go to the heart of our humanness. I am sad I never met him yet do not feel deprived.
