Tastemaker, decorator and rock to multitudes, Linda Ronkin was born in Queens, New York in 1961. Her lifelong exploration and commitment to style, glamour and the manifestation of “home” blossomed throughout decades in the New York scene. She attended Queens College, and eventually rose to work at Donghia New York, then moved on to start, Linda Ronkin Interiors.
Linda’s talent for “home” was also expressed in the larger community in her creation of a massive extended family. “La Linda” as she was affectionately called by her legions of fans, was at the center of a core group of friends, with her late ally, noted casting
director and actress Elizabeth Greenberg. Linda was a de facto member of the Greenbergs, (Dave Greenberg refers to Linda as his “second sister)” and she and Elizabeth were den mothers to a classic group of urban creatives, misfits, geniuses and Yentas.
Effortlessly elegant and beautiful, Linda was an intuitive archivist, keeper of all stories, knower of all gossip, funny, fun, exceptionally warm, a devoted godmother, a fierce protector of her family (biological and chosen) and, a tough New Yorker at heart. But Linda’s true northstar is her beloved mother, Adriane. They had a bond that can never be broken, they are and will always be each other’s lives.
Donations can be made in Linda’s name to PETA.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery, located at 83-45 Cypress Hills Street, Glendale, NY, 11385. The service is scheduled for September 16, 2025, starting at 1:15 pm.
