OBITUARY

Malcolm Chaifetz

August 23, 1931March 11, 2018

Malcolm Chaifetz, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on March 11th, at the age of 86. He is predeceased by his wife, Marilyn and daughter, Jill. Malcolm left us peacefully while holding the hands of his treasured son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Chaifetz and Renee Wimpfheimer Chaifetz. Malcom was born in New York City in 1931 to Al and Rose Chaifetz. He and his siblings were raised in Mount Vernon, NY. Malcolm attended NYU, where he received both his undergraduate degree and his JD. Malcolm went on to work for his wife, Marilyn’s, uncle, as a partner in his law practice. Malcolm was a young and ambitious attorney, whose son, Lawrence and daughter, Jill, both looked up to. They followed in his footsteps, becoming lawyers themselves. Malcolm and his son became partners in Chaifetz and Chaifetz in 1986. The two worked side by side for 32 years.

Malcolm loved traveling the world with his family and friends. His passion for jazz and the theater never faded as his grew older. Malcolm’s upbeat spirit was felt by everyone around him. His friends and family can agree that his age of 86 years old was never representative of Malcolm’s humor, whit and vibrancy. He is survived, and will be deeply missed by his son, Lawrence, daughter-in-law, Renee, grandchildren, Sasha, Arielle, Milo, Isaac and Leila; son-in-law, Daniel, and sister Judith. Services at "The Riverside"on Amsterdam and 76th, Tuesday, March 13th at 11am. Donations can be made to the Jill Chaifetz Education Helpline.

Dear Larry,

We only learned of this when we reached out to you by email. We are so sad to learn of your Dad's passing. Even as he lived a long, meaningful life, it's still very hard to say goodbye to a parent. Please know that we are thinking of you, and wish you peace through this difficult journey. If you are sitting shiva, please let us know in case we can stop by and share our thoughts with you in person.

Yours,

Rachel and Kevin Dahill-Fuchel

Dear Larry, Renee, and Judy ,
We are extremely sad not to be able to join you this morning to honor Malcom and say goodbye to an incredible man and good friend. It's snowing like crazy here. I could hear him telling us to stay home.....you won't be able to get out of the driveway...you won't find parking...the trains wont be running...you won't be able to get home!!!! We send you love and big hugs and tears and smiles.
