Marcia was born on July 15, 1935, in Quito, Ecuador, to proud parents Gonzalo and Sara. She peacefully departed from this world on February 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure through the generations.
Marcia immigrated to the United States in the early-1960s, and found a life in New York City – the start of a new journey which was a testament to the resilience instilled by her loving parents. She met her husband, Victor, and they were married in 1963, a union that spanned almost 61 years.
A devoted mother, Marcia embraced the joys and challenges of parenthood with open arms. Her daughter, Maria, was the center of her world. She poured her heart into nurturing and guiding Maria, forming an indelible, everlasting loving bond with her.
Family was everything to Marcia, and her role as a wife, mother, aunt and grandmother brought her rich happiness. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, welcoming friends and family alike with open arms. In recent years, her cherished grandchildren Marla, Jaren and Samantha brought profound joy to Marcia’s life, and theirs as well.
Marcia worked many years in the New York City school district, assisting countless youth, before retiring in 2000. She embraced her Upper West Side community and friends with open-hearted gusto and enjoyment.
In addition to her husband, daughter and grandchildren, Marcia is also survived by her brother, Ricardo Vargas of Medford, New York, her sister, Rosa Elena Sarzosa of Quito, Ecuador, her sister-in-law Hilda, brother-in-law Luis Ramiro, nieces Sara, Ivette and Cristina, nephews Ricky and Luis Ramiro Jr. and son-in-law, Larry Lancaster, plus great-niece Christina and many more extended family members. Also, many thanks to assistant Eshoo Basdeo, and all the added efforts and care provided lovingly to Marcia by Ricky and Christina.
