

CONTE, Margo Ann (Callan) died peacefully Sunday in Stamford, CT; she was 73. Margo was the loving wife of Bernard Conte, whose death precedes her, the adoring mother of Louise and Eric (and spouses Andrew and Jennifer), and a dedicated grandmother to Parker, Logan, Baxter, and Will Conte. She also leaves behind her beloved stepmother Frances Rogers Callan, stepbrothers Byron III (and wife Allison, and their children Byron IV, Ariana, and Nathanael), and Michael, and her stepsister Katherine (and husband Carmine). Born in Mineola, NY to Byron King Callan II and Martha Healy, she held a graduate degree from the Ammon School of Education at Adelphi University. Margo moved to New York City after college, where she resided until her death, spending time in Lakeville, CT in her later years. Margo taught third-grade and art at P.S. 124 in Chinatown for many years, and she leaves behind many dear friends from her time there. Margo loved to garden, cook, entertain and play bridge. She also loved travelling, enjoying trips to Sicily, Malta, Holland, England and France with family and friends. Viewing hours will be held Tuesday October 27th from 2:00-5:00pm and from 7:00-9:00pm at Andrett Funeral Home, 353 2nd Avenue, with a service to follow at 11:00am on Wednesday at Church of the Epiphany, 239 East 21st Street; the burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Lake Wononscopomuc Association in Salisbury, CT, the Scoville Memorial Library, also in Salisbury, or the Visiting Nurse Service of New York are welcome.
