Just came across this news now and quite saddened by the news of the passing of Marie. I met Marie in Garabandal many years ago  I think in 2008 , we had a evening meal together in the guest house of one of the visionary sister. She was after bringing a group of pilgrims to Garabandal from the States. As I was traveling alone I joined her group and went we to a town called Video where the facecloth of Christ was exposed to be venerated. I found Marie to be a lady of true conviction and with a deep love for Our Blessed Mother Mary. May she rest in peace in the arms of Our Blessed Mother and Jesus. As a traditional Catholic who made pilgrimage to Fatima in 1996,  I had always wanted to go to Garabandal since I first read about the Apparitions. 
Maria was inspirational to me to pray the Rosary daily and try to sacrifice more in my life.
She became the voice to me of a miracle which is Garabandal.
She has surely found peace in heaven, but will sorely be missed here on earth by those she touched in life.
God has blessed her.

I met your wonderful mother through your father when we worked together at St. Matthew school. Both were wonderful people for whom family was very important. I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Surely your Dad was there in heaven to greet her. Maria was the Junior Kindergarten Teacher for both my daughters.  Sending my older daughter to her first day of school was rather daunting for me, but I remember Maria giving each nervous parent a little note along with a bag of tea and words of encouragement, reassuring us that our little ones were in good hands.  I have long since forgotten what those words were, but I do remember that Maria's small gesture made me feel more at ease and that the process of my child's education would from hence forth be a partnership.  It was. By the time my second daughter started school, we had a good parent-teacher relationship that was very open and helpful. My daughters have fond memories of their first year, and Maria was a positive influence on them. Later, I had the privilege of working with Maria in her classroom and she was always professional and welcoming. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to her beloved son and daughter. She always spoke of you with both pride and love. I can only hope that the many positive memories you have sustain you in this time of great grief.  May God Bless.

I've known Maria Palermo-Saraco for a long time.  I first met her when she sang at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.  She actually sang as a soloist at my brother-in-law's wedding.  We started our teaching careers at about the same time and we retired at the exact same time.  I was so happy to reconnect with her when she married and moved to my parish of All Saints, and bringing our children to activities together like, "learn to skate".   I would see her regularly as she continued to share her beautiful voice in the All Saints' Choir.   Unfortunately she suffered a great loss just over 2 years ago, the loss of her beloved husband, but she had managed to pull herself together, and came back to sing in the Choir.  She was very proud of her children, Francesca and Anthony.   Know that she loved you very much.  When I visited with her in the hospital just this past February, she was very clear that she wanted to live because her children needed her.   God had bigger and better plans for your mom, and you need to cherish the memories and the great love of both your parents, who are now reunited.  I'm going to attach a photo taken just before Maria's life changed forever, February, 2016, I met her at Cityline and she was so happy!  May she rest in peace.  Anna Maria

Ms. Palermo Saraco was my first ever teacher and my favourite teacher at Father Serra school. Her amazing energy, loving spirit, and her positive attitude made me feel at peace whenever I was in her presence. As a teacher, she got rid of all my anxieties and fears as she always gave an optimistic approach to every situation. As a student I remember how I always trusted her and when I needed a hug she would always be there for me. I don’t remember too much at the age of 4 and 5, but Ms. was a special person who I cherished at that young age and held close to my heart. I will continue to remember those times (I will especially remember her comforting hugs!) She definitely left a beautiful legacy. 

Ms also introduced me to my best friend and I will cherish that forever. 

Maria was an amazing person. She helped me with my wedding at a time when my dad was ill and I was overwhelmed.  She wrote my place cards in her beautiful handwriting and she decorated my house. She also helped me by giving me the opportunity to do my placement in her classroom.  The All Saints Choir will not be the same.  Words cannot describe the hurt in my heart,  but I know that she is in God's loving arms.
