

Marvin Leffler, 103, of New York City passed away Friday June 5, 2026. His was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Schleicher Leffler of 44 years and Charlotte Frank of 35 years. He leaves behind his children Bruce(Jackie) Leffler and Nancy(Evan) Berman and their children Howard, Samantha, Sheri and Gillian, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Charlotte’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As an editor of NYU’s The Commerce Bulletin, he helped in leading it to become the only college newspaper in the country to publish a first-day story on the attack on Pearl Harbor. Marvin then served in WWII.
He was a manufacturer’s representative of plumbing supplies, and a manufacturer of gas connector. He was the CEO and Chairman of the National Council of Sales Organizations for many years. An author of 2 books - How to become a Successful ManufacturerS Representative and it’s 1958 sequel. He was the CEO and Chairman of the National Council of Sales Organizations. Through the National Council of Representative he helped lobby to put the Keogh plan in place (Self-Employed Individuals Tax Retirement Act of 1962).
His profession was a necessity to support his family. However, his love was his hobbies and causes. He was a member of Fenway Golf Club in Scarsdale, NY for many years.
NYU and The Town Hall were his true loves. He along with a small group of individuals from the former New York University Club saved and received The Town Hall Landmark Status as a National Historic Site. He continued to be an active member, as president emeritus of the Town Hall Foundation having served as president for 35 years. Today, his bust proudly sits in the lobby of Town Hall as recognition for his years of volunteer service and a true “Friends of the Arts”.
Having received a BS and MBA from New York University he then went on to dedicate years of service to them. He was a founding member and later a co-president of the NYU Alumni Association (NYUAA) and has contributed decades of service as a member of the NYUAA Board of Directors. Additionally, he has held membership on six different NYUAA committees and chaired two of those committees. Mr. Leffler served as an NYU Trustee Associate until his death , and was an active member of the University Founder’s Society and the Society of the Torch.
