Michael K. Lawlor
October 18, 1934 – June 28, 2018
Michael K. Lawlor, beloved brother of Patricia and Pete, dearest love of Virginia, treasured friend of all who knew him from his boyhood in Sea Cliff, his Army days in Germany, his long career in advertising (most notably at Doyle Dane Bernbach), his years at the Art Students League, The National Academy and Spring Street Studio, his summers at Fire Island and his decades of fellowship in New York, died on 6/28 at the age of 83.
He never stopped learning, creating, seeking, growing. He never met a cat or dog he didn’t like. He always put the other guy first.
Elegant, unassuming, patient, open-hearted, brave, Mike will be long remembered and missed by countless people with whom he shared his wit, talents, warmth, wisdom and bread.
He will be waked at the Chas. Peter Nagel Funeral Home at 352 East 87th St. on Monday, 7/9 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 10:00 PM. His funeral will be at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 East 88th St. on Tuesday,7/10 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the church. He would be honored by contributions made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
