Mona Joy Roth

Mona was born in Queens on December 18, 1942 and, after a life well and fully lived, moved on from this world on January 15, 2025 at the age of 82.

She was a lifelong New Yorker who valued family, friendship and community and always had time to lend an ear and give advice. She was a staunch advocate for what and in whom she believed and was undeterred by obstacles placed in her path. She loved to travel the world and approached life each day with a sense of wonder.

Mona is survived by her daughter, Sami Roth; grandchildren, Beatrice Hannah Roth, Michael Shaab and Marlena Shaab; sister, Carole Kissel; partner, Alan Braverman and dearest friend, Carolyn Wells. She will be truly missed.

A funeral service will be held at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 180 W. 76th Street, New York, NY on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at noon.

Burial to follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, 130-04 Horace Harding Expressway, Kew Gardens Hills, NY 11367.

In lieu of flowers you may honor the memory of Mona with a donation to any cause that you feel passionately about or hold close to your heart. Donations can be monetary and/or goods, services or time. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was particularly significant to her.
